Durham – A Great Place to Live

by Jay on October 20, 2009

It took a while but I finally figured out how to place photos in the “media box” at the top of the column on the right of this page. Of the five pictures in the rotation only one, the aerial shot of Duke Chapel, was of something that was here in 1984 when I moved to Durham.  In fact, the Chapel was here long before I first saw it when I visited Durham and the Duke campus for the first time in 1963 as a football recruit.

These pictures and many more are available on the website of the Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau (www.durham-cvb.com) which is also a great source of information for anyone moving to Durham or a Durhamite who hasn’t gotten out in a while.

I also found the video below on the site.  It was apparently produced in cooperation with the law school at Duke. Why the law school? Well, I’m sure they are anxious to recruit the top talent both to teach and study at the law school and that usually means living in Durham.  Since Durham is still trying to drag its image in line with reality, they know it pays to promote.  The so-called Lacrosse scandal was a set back to those efforts. This video shows just how far the community has come.
